Do we need to rewrite the Indian History?

Indians far and near and even many others from other countries have been long talking about rewriting indian history. Is there a need?

Some perceived needs which is being discussed in every snack/coffee bar

a)Indian civilization ( like current USA) has influence from very many other ancient ones. The impact of those are very evident in the secular thought in this society. This is being expressed by very many foreign intellectuals who study indian civilization. But, Have facts also been sub-dued/hidden/lost its original purpose/value/meaning as a result of influence?

b) For a civilization which has created/preserved/evolved the vedas, upanishads, geeta, advaita, yoga, mimamsa, shunyavada, original buddhist thought, a religious federation( called hinduism), scientific writings, mathematical and astronomical prophecy, astrology and so many others, do we have enough history to understand and digest its path?

c) Are we right in saying that if discovery of india by nehru is a good treatise in that aspect, how much of coverage it has over the period before 1000 A.D even if we agree that much of the other period has been covered? Also, should we conclude that even the post 1000 A.D period was influenced mostly by european and mughal thoughts rather than speculation/research from a local perspective?

d) Have we done enough justice to atleast speculate what happened before 1000 A.D atleast with what we have as puranas?

e) Are puranas have 50/50 each of junk and historical record or they are complete fictional novels?
f) What portions of those actually depict the hindu wisdom?

g) When we admire the hindu thought, shouldn’t we find the path that created it?

h) How many of us indians have read atleast in one indian language/english – The MahaBharat, The Ramayana, The Maha Bhakta Vijayam, Some of the Puranas? Are we reading the local historical research novels atleast?

i) Why shouldnt we rewrite indian history or atleast read some part of it?

Do you think likewise or not?

The book tries to answer and open up new questions…
