This was written in the divine presence of HH Abhinava vidya thirtha mahaswamiji of sringeri peetam during his visit to chennai. A friend of Brahma Shri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar (NGK) introduced him to HH swamiji and elaborated on his poetic skills and that he is an “Asu-Kavi” (one who writes on a transcendental state). Swamiji with his own gnana-drishti adding wit and humour, asked Shri NGK to write in the “Mahishasura mardhini” stotram tune on his favorite lord, Subrahmanya. Shri NGK obliged this request and added that with Guruvarul ( Guru’s blessings) whats not possible!. HH swamiji was very happy with that word and with a laughter & bliss on his face, proclaimed “Is that so! please someone provide him with a pen and paper and let him write this here. I want to hear this”. Shri NGK wrote the below poem in the tune and meter composed by HH Adisankara and presented it to HH swamiji. HH swamiji read the entire poem, appraised of the meaning of many lines with ecstasy and bliss. HH swamiji also gave his blessings to the writing and blessed Shri NGK that his life’s purpose will be fruitful with more hymns written over Lord Subrahmanya thereby spreading the message of vedanta in this Bharata punya bhoomi.
ஒரு கண நினைவினில் ஊன்றிய வித்தினில், உழல் என படைத்தனை ஷண்முகனே
கருவென நிணமதில் வீணில் வளர்ந்திட ஏனெனை படைத்தனை ஷண்முகனே
ஒரு குரல் அழுது யான் பிறந்து விழித்திட ஒரு வினை செய்தனை ஷண்முகனே
ஜெய ஜெய வேலவ தானவ நாசக ஸஜ்ஜன பாலக ஷண்முகனே
