Sri Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar is a Sanskrit scholar and has primarily performed with multi-lingual bhajan methods. But, his taste and reverence for Tamil is exemplary. His Bhajan Book in Tamil on Lord Muruga, “Thiru Muruga Namamutham” – Sampradaya Valli Kalyanam with 18 Tamil ashtapadhis ( comparable to Geeta Govindam of Jayadevar ) was released on 1989.

The maiden attempt was praised by Poojya Sri Kripananda Variar Swamigal, Poojya Sri Sadhuram Swamigal, Brahma Sri Delhi Raghavan and many other Tamil scholars. Many contemporary Bhagavathars are performing “Valli Kalyanam” with the help of this book throughout India and also in USA. The second edition of the book was released in 1999 with the third edition released in 2010 with further additions.
